As the director of ORC, Kacey coordinates the functions of a compliance program that includes Human Subjects Protections, Animal Care and Use, Financial Conflict of Interest, Biosafety, and Responsible Conduct of Research. Kacey served for 5 years in Sponsored Programs Administration before joining ORC in 2007. Kacey received a bachelor's degree in Genetics from the University of Georgia, an M.A. in Science Education from the University of Texas, and she holds the Certified Research Administrator, the Certified IRB Professional, and the Certified Professional IACUC Administrator qualifications.

Mary has been the friendly voice of the Office of Research Compliance since 2005. In between answering questions, routing emails and phone calls, keeping track of inventory, entering payroll and the many other things she does to keep our office running, she manages to make everyone feel at home with a smile or an encouraging word.

Trent joined ORC in November of 2017 after spending 20+ years in the US Army and US Army Reserve serving as both an enlisted member and an officer. He received a BS and MS in Biology at the University of Mississippi (but we won't hold that against him) and his PhD at North Carolina State University. He has research expertise in microbial bioremediation of pesticides, probiotics, oxidative stress metallo-enzymes, multi-drug resistant organisms, biofilms, microbiomes, and predator-prey bacteria. His biosafety and clinical experience includes establishment and certification of Department of Defense overseas BSL-2 MDRO surveillance laboratories, BSL-3 Biological Select Agent and Toxin laboratories in the US and Germany and clinical microbiology diagnostic laboratories.

Darrell is a graduate of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at Mississippi State where he received a BS in Agriculture Sciences and a MS in Agriculture & Extension Education. He joined our team in June of 2018 after working five and a half years as the County Extension Agent in Choctaw County. As Assistant Compliance Administrator, he provides support for your questions about IRB and IACUC protocols.

As a Mississippi State University graduate in 1992 (BS) and 2000 (MS) as well as an employee of the University since 1992, Trina has always had a heart for providing outstanding customer service. She joined the ORC team in November 2004 as the IACUC Compliance Administrator. Her mission is to be diligently dedicated to serving the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in an effective, efficient and ethical manner and to serve as a resourceful liaison between the University’s animal users and the IACUC.

Nicole is a Mississippi State graduate of the College of Business (2009) and also obtained a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration (2011). She joined our staff in November 2015 as a Compliance Administrator for the HRPP after working in the office of Sponsored Programs Administration for just over 3 years. Her goals are to help facilitate the research process involving human subjects research with integrity, efficiency, and great customer service. Hail State!

 
Riley McCormick

Riley graduated from Marshall University with a Regents Bachelor of Arts (2012). He worked for 2 years for Ecolab conducting food safety assessments and hazmat inspections. He then decided to go to law school at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL where he graduated with a JD and LL.M (2017) in advocacy and dispute resolution. He also passed the Bar in September 2017 and is a member of the Alabama Bar. Previously, he served as the Chief Clerk / Special Judge of Probate for the Elmore County Probate Judge. Riley is also an Officer in the Alabama Army National Guard and spent 6 years as a combat medic in the West Virginia Army National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2009-2010.
