The IRB
The Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research (IRB) reviews all research activities which involve human subjects for compliance with federal regulations and ethical standards. All human research conducted at, by, or under the auspices of this institution, whether funded or not, and whether conducted by the administrators, faculty, staff, or students, must be reviewed and approved before the research begins. The information available on this page is intended to guide you through the review process.

MSU's Federalwide Assurance (FWA) number with OHRP is FWA00000203 (expires 8/23/2026).
MSU's DoD-Navy FWA Addendum number is DoD N-A3034.
MSU's IRB Registration Number is IRB00000789, and IORG is IORG0000467 (expires 6/30/2025).
MSU's HRPP has been accredited with the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP) since 2013.

IRB Meeting Schedule
Submission deadlines are 2 weeks prior to the meeting dates listed below, and apply ONLY to the applications for research requiring review by the Full Board. These dates do not apply if your study is classified as Exempt or Expedited.
The Convened IRB (CIRB) meets the second Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise specified.
